Policy briefs provide orientation for those seeking to address a specific policy challenge. In 2008 the Research Directorate of the European Commission requested my support in developing a policy brief format to accommodate dissemination of policy-relevant findings emerging from EU-funded research projects, specifically those dealing with socio-economic sciences and humanities (SSH). During this process I drafted and edited dozens of policy briefs and taught a series of masterclasses on the subject. The sample policy briefs featured here were written by me as a member of the CONSIDER consortium, an EU-funded project exploring ways to integrate civil society organisations into research.
(For practical guidance on writing policy briefs, please consult Communicating Research for Evidence-based Policymaking, a booklet I drafted for the European Commission in 2010.)
